CAF Aligned NHS DSPT Update
- Call scheduled for 1.5 hours with additional time available immediately following the end of the session for queries or discussion.
- Presentation will be issued 4 working days in advance.
- You will need to read the course materials prior to the session, so at the beginning you can highlight any areas that you may be specifically unsure of, or any specific issues/scenarios that you wish to discuss. These will be factored into the session.
Why do you need CAF Aligned NHS DSPT Update training?
- The CAF aligned NHS DSPT has been updated since 2024-25 and it is important to understand these changes prior to completion of the 2025-26 document.
Effective CAF Aligned NHS DSPT Update training will:
- Update your knowledge around the 2025-26 CAF aligned NHS DSPT changes.
- Help you to understand roles and key responsibilities within your organisation when completing the CAF aligned NHS DSPT.
- Demonstrate the audit process for your understanding.
The Law
Completion of the NHS DSPT is a contractual requirement for all organisations that have access to NHS patient information.
As of September 2024, some organisations are required to complete the CAF aligned NHS DSPT. Currently these organisations fall in to the below categories, although this list is envisaged to grow over coming years:
- NHS trusts and foundation trusts
- Commissioning support units (CSUs)
- Arm’s-length bodies (ALBs) of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC)
- Integrated care boards (ICBs)
- Independent health organisations who have been designated as ‘operators of essential services’ under the Network and Information Systems (NIS) regulations 2018
- Genomics organisations as nominated by DHSC
Who needs CAF NHS DSPT Update training?
Organisational IG and cyber professionals who will be involved in completing the 2025/26 NHS DSPT CAF aligned toolkit.
Aims of the course:
- To give an overview of the purpose and aims of the toolkit.
- To provide an overview of the updates to the toolkit in comparison to NHS DSPT CAF aligned 2024 – 25.
- To discuss roles, responsibilities and accountabilities within an organisation when completing the CAF aligned NHS DSPT.
- To examine the audit process.
- To encourage discussion and share best practice.
