Happy New Year from our data protection team

Wishing all our clients and friends a very Happy New Year.

As we prepare to say goodbye to 2024, we’ve been taking a look back at our year in data protection. It’s been a busy time, we’ve welcomed over 200 new clients to our database, collaborated with 78 of our lovely clients to ensure they stayed compliant with data protection through our managed service and delivered almost 150 data protection related training courses through our online option and bespoke courses.

We’ve had over 500 requests for assistance with data protection this year. A large portion of requests was for help with the Data Security Protection Toolkit, whether that was with writing, reviewing, auditing or improving standards. This year’s deadline is in June and we’ve already taken many requests to review and audit the toolkits ahead of submission, definitely a task worth starting early!

We’ve also worked on almost 200 policies, from cookie policies to third party data sharing agreements, to acceptable use policies, it often surprises our clients how many business processes data protection becomes a part of.

This year, we launched two new open courses (a workshop in Subject Access Requests and Redaction and an Advanced Data Protection Officer course) and we have a couple of additional options still to come! Our open courses were very popular this year and we’ve already had 82 delegates book onto courses coming up in the first few months of 2025, which is wonderful, thank you.

Alongside that, we’ve helped clients manage 43 data breaches, from small scale to serious breaches and helped guide over 200 requests for information, whether that was through a subject access request, access to health records, freedom of information requests or through police and court case enquiries.

And in and amongst all our client work, our back office teams have been working hard to implement a new website design, based on feedback provided by our clients. The new website has been soft launched to date and is intended to make it easier to navigate to areas of interest, particularly since our offerings have grown exponentially over the last few years. The launch of our new courses has coincided with this and has offered us the opportunity to reach out to even more clients who are eager to develop their data protection.

In summary, our team at BLS Stay Compliant feel fortunate to have worked with some fantastic clients this year, we are grateful that our clients return to us year on year, whether this is for training, data breach assistance, DSPT audits, policy reviews, GDPR audits, physical security reviews or any other number of requirements. It is our clients that truly make our business.

Thank you for your support in 2024. Here’s to 2025!

Happy New Year from all of our BLS Stay Compliant team.
